Darkside
Formed in Providence in 2011 around Nicolas Jaar, a Chilean‑American producer based in the United States, and American guitarist and multi‑instrumentalist Dave Harrington, DARKSIDE developed a language situated between electronic music, psychedelic rock, slow blues and experimental music. The project first appeared with the Darkside EP in 2011, before taking on a broader form with Psychic in 2013 — an album where Harrington’s often stretched, textured guitars blend with restrained vocals, minimalist rhythms and Jaar’s progressive constructions. Originally conceived as a temporary collaboration, DARKSIDE paused activity after the Psychic tour, then returned with Spiral in 2021, a record built on long, supple tracks often founded on repetition, improvisation and a discreet pulse. On stage DARKSIDE initially performed as a duo before adding Tlacael Esparza on percussion to the live lineup, giving the group a more organic and mobile dimension. Between slowed‑down club culture, nocturnal psychedelia and collective interplay, DARKSIDE occupies a singular space between rock concert and electronic performance.
