On February 14, 2027, Dexter and The Moonrocks bring their “Friends That I Don't Like - Canadian Tour” to Burton Cummings Theatre in Winnipeg, riding the band’s self-described “western space grunge” mix. Formed in rural Texas in 2021, the quartet blends alt rock, indie rock, country-rock edges and a thick 90s/2000s grunge pull: big, saturated guitars, tight melodies, and writing that swings between wide-open Americana and more introspective turns. After early EPs and the Western Space Grunge run, their recent releases have sharpened the formula into punchy choruses and a raw-but-melodic sound that’s made for a live room.
Opening the night, Los Angeles quartet Return to Dust leans into a darker lane where grunge, hard rock, alternative rock and alternative metal overlap. Active since 2022, they’ve built momentum from the Black Road EP to their self-titled debut album, then kept pushing with Speak Like the Dead, stacking heavy rhythms and thick riffs with vocals that nod to classic 90s U.S. rock without feeling like a museum piece.
