49 Winchester

Hailing from the small town of Castlewood in the heart of Virginia, 49 Winchester has established itself as an American band shaping an alternative country sound strongly rooted in Americana and Southern rock. Formed in the early 2010s around singer‑songwriter Isaac Gibson and a core group of childhood friends, 49 Winchester developed a style where slow ballads sit alongside rougher, more driven tracks, drawing on stories of rural life, Appalachian landscapes and direct, narrative songwriting. Their self‑titled debut, released in 2014, laid the groundwork for this identity, followed by The Wind in 2018, which refined the balance between country, folk and rock, and III in 2020, which featured a heavier role for electric guitars and a solid rhythm section. With Fortune Favors the Bold in 2022, released on New West Records, 49 Winchester broadened its reach and intensified touring across the United States, before building a growing presence in Europe. The album Leavin’ This Holler, issued in 2024, continues that trajectory with a country sound infused with soul and rock, emphasizing organic instrumentation and a slightly gritty vocal timbre, serving songs that explore attachment to place, family ties and the tension between leaving and staying rooted.
