Charles Wesley Godwin

Born in Morgantown, West Virginia, Charles Wesley Godwin frames his music within an Appalachian context where country, folk and narrative songwriting intersect. He began composing while studying finance at West Virginia University, during which time he learned guitar and laid the groundwork for a repertoire focused on stories, landscapes and personal connections. Godwin released Seneca in 2019, a debut album with autobiographical leanings, followed by How the Mighty Fall in 2021, where his writing opened further to stories carried by other characters. His style remains rooted in a restrained, acoustic and direct country-folk, with particular attention to melodies and lyrics. Godwin’s trajectory continued on the American independent country scene, notably during a tour with Zach Bryan, with whom he appears on the track "Jamie" in 2022. Signed to Big Loud in 2023, he released Family Ties that same year, an album built around family and transmission, before contributing "Winter’s Come and Gone" to the soundtrack of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.
