Stephen Wilson Jr

Shaped by a childhood in southern Indiana, Stephen Wilson Jr developed a songwriting voice steeped in the rural imagery of the Midwest before settling in Nashville. He first emerged as the singer and guitarist of the rock band AutoVaughn, working in an indie‑rock vein before gradually gravitating toward the country and Americana scenes by writing for other artists. As a solo artist, Wilson Jr hones a style that blends alternative country, acoustic folk, and rock energy, with echoes of grunge and indie pop, carried by a gritty voice and strongly narrative lyrics. His songs explore family, memory, and the tension between small‑town roots and urban life, often through autobiographical storytelling. Signed to a Nashville label, he released several singles from the late 2010s onward before unveiling his debut full‑length in 2023, "søn of dad," a set that spans slow ballads, more electric cuts, and pieces akin to intimate confessions. Onstage and in the studio, he presents himself first and foremost as a singer‑songwriter, shaping a cohesive world where country tradition meets a contemporary rock sensibility.
