Formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in 2012, the British quintet Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, often shortened to Pigs x7, creates music that sits between stoner metal, psychedelic rock, doom and noise rock. Centered on the vocals of Matthew Baty, with Sam Grant and Adam Ian Sykes on guitars, John‑Michael Hedley on bass and a drum approach that is upfront and confrontational, Pigs x7 builds a dense sound founded on repetitive riffs, sustained tension and climaxes that draw as much from heavy rock as from the roughest metal. After an initial short release, Psychopomp (2014), the band made a stronger mark on the British underground with Feed the Rats (2017), then continued with King of Cowards (2018) and Viscerals (2020). Those records trace an evolution from long, stretched pieces toward tighter formats without abandoning the abrasive, hypnotic quality of their writing. Pigs x7 then issued Land of Sleeper in 2023 and Death Hilarious in 2025, still on Rocket Recordings, confirming a trajectory followed across rock, psych and metal circles in the UK and internationally.
