The Black Dahlia Murder

Formed in 2001 in Waterford, Michigan, The Black Dahlia Murder evolved at the intersection of melodic death metal, American death metal and early traces of metalcore that were soon abandoned in favor of sharper, faster and more melodic songwriting. After a 2001 demo and the 2002 EP A Cold-Blooded Epitaph, the band signed with Metal Blade and released Unhallowed in 2003, the starting point for a steady discography that includes Miasma (2005), Nocturnal (2007), Deflorate (2009), Ritual (2011), Everblack (2013), Abysmal (2015), Nightbringers (2017), Verminous (2020) and Servitude (2024). Their sound combines cutting riffs, song structures rooted in the Swedish melodic death tradition, rhythmic intensity and extreme vocals, with a constant emphasis on guitar hooks and tempo changes. Active on tours and metal festivals since the early 2000s, The Black Dahlia Murder has shared bills with acts such as Cannibal Corpse, Children of Bodom and Amon Amarth, and has played Ozzfest, the Warped Tour and the Summer Slaughter Tour. Following Trevor Strnad’s death in 2022, Brian Eschbach assumed vocal duties and Ryan Knight returned to the band, marking a new chapter in The Black Dahlia Murder’s history.
