Anna of the North
Led by the voice of Anna Lotterud, the Anna of the North project began in Gjøvik, Norway, before continuing in Oslo in the mid‑2010s. Initially formed as a duo with New Zealand producer Brady Daniell‑Smith, it sits in an electro‑pop/indie‑pop vein characterized by soft synths, measured rhythms and melancholic melodies. Anna of the North drew attention with the single “Sway” in 2014, followed by a series of tracks released online that established an aesthetic centered on direct songwriting and a clear voice, often associated with wintry, intimate atmospheres. The first album, Lovers, appeared in 2017, followed by Dream Girl in 2019, which extended this Scandinavian pop tinged with light R&B and simple choruses, designed as much for quiet clubs as for solitary listening. With Crazy Life in 2022, Anna of the North further refined this blend of synthetic ballads and more rhythmic tracks while retaining an introspective register. Occasional collaborations with Tyler, the Creator and tours in Europe and North America gradually positioned Anna of the North on an international stage where bedroom pop, minimalist electro and classic songwriting intersect.
