Gigi Perez

Born in 2000 in Hackensack, New Jersey, to a family of Cuban origin and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida, Gigi Perez began writing songs at an early age and started sharing them in high school with the band Wendy Lane from 2018. After a stint at Berklee College of Music cut short by the pandemic, she turned to TikTok in 2020, where tracks like "Celene" and "Sometimes (Backwood)" circulated widely and established her intimate pop songwriting, marked by grief, queer relationships and a questioning spirituality. Briefly signed to Interscope, Gigi Perez recorded the EP "How to Catch a Falling Knife" (2023), which gathers songs written over several years, including "The Man", "When She Smiles", "Glue", "Figurines" and "Sally", ranging from acoustic ballads and alternative pop to minimalist, voice-centered production. At the same time she opened for artists such as Coldplay, Noah Cyrus, Girl in Red, d4vd and Hozier, and settled in Brooklyn. Freed from her first contract, she continued solo with narrative-driven singles like "Normalcy" and "Please Be Rude", followed by "Sailor Song", "Fable" and "Chemistry", which extend a typically spare queer ballad aesthetic, propelled by direct singing and deeply personal lyrics. In 2025 Gigi Perez released her debut studio album "At the Beach, in Every Life" on Island Records, a synthesis of her path between contemporary pop, confessional songwriting and an indie inheritance.
