The Clockworks

Formed in Galway before settling in London, The Clockworks operate in a post-punk and indie rock vein characterized by angular guitars, tight rhythms and vocals that often verge on declamatory delivery. The Irish quartet emerged in the late 2010s with a string of singles that gradually established them on the British and Irish club circuits, in a tense, fast aesthetic firmly rooted in everyday observation. The Clockworks craft short, direct songs driven by nervous songwriting, spare choruses and an energy that borrows as much from punk as from British pop rock. After early recordings with Bernard Butler, the band released their debut album, Exit Strategy, in 2022. Since then they have continued to evolve their sound toward tighter arrangements and a more pronounced tension, while retaining the foundation of melodic urgency, rhythmic friction and urban storytelling.
