DEADLETTER
DEADLETTER formed in London from a group of friends whose work revolves around writing, language and a collective practice of stage movement conceived as a narrative space rather than an interpretive format. The group operates within DIY dynamics, favouring self-organisation, independent circuits and artisanal distribution before moving into UK and European programming. Their approach rests on writing as the primary vector: often fragmented narration and a practice of repetitive motifs where syntax matters as much as the image it evokes. DEADLETTER constructs its pieces as sequences, working with scansion, rupture and the layering of ideas, with a precise sense of timing, punchline and the stage as a literary space. The group has developed a sustained presence at festivals, independent venues and alternative circuits, while maintaining an intentionally tight production model committed to closeness to audiences, to brick‑wall style rooms without a pit and to setups that encourage interaction without creating distance. Without privileging text over performance, DEADLETTER uses the stage as a site of live editing where a piece can be reorganised, extended or saturated with interjections, keeping a line that owes as much to literary editing as to the concert.
