HighSchool
Hailing from Melbourne, Rory Trobbiani and Luke Scott form HighSchool, a duo that reinvents post-punk melancholy through a lo-fi, cinematic aesthetic. They emerged with their debut EP Forever at Last, which blends new wave, goth and hazy melodies, quickly establishing them as one of the most promising acts on the alternative scene. After a notable stint in London, the singles Only a Dream, produced by Dan Carey, and Colt brought them international recognition and took them on tours from Australia and Japan to Europe and North America. The band has shared bills with Sam Fender, Chvrches and Provoker, and performed at respected festivals such as SXSW, The Great Escape and All Points East. Signed to [PIAS], they followed with Accelerator, a second EP that is more introspective and twilight-tinged, praised for its balance of tension and nostalgia. Today HighSchool are preparing their first self-titled album, produced by Ben Hillier (Blur, Depeche Mode) and Finn Bellingham, recorded between London and Melbourne. With tracks like Dipped, Sony Ericsson and Chaplins, the duo probes the blurred zones of modern youth—between desire and disillusion—while maintaining a keen sense of visuals and staging, extending their intimate yet stylized world.
