The Teskey Brothers

Rooted in Melbourne’s soul and blues scene, The Teskey Brothers brings together brothers Josh Teskey on vocals and rhythm guitar and Sam Teskey on lead guitar, joined over the years by a steady rhythm section that shapes a sound reminiscent of 1960s soul and blues rock. Hailing from Warrandyte on Melbourne’s outskirts, the band formed in the late 2000s around gigs in local bars before solidifying its repertoire. The Teskey Brothers released a self-produced debut album, Half Mile Harvest, in 2017, showcasing a warm aesthetic centered on a rough-hewn soul voice, economical guitars, and brass and backing vocal arrangements. In 2019, Run Home Slow confirmed a broader writing approach, blending soul ballads, roots-tinged blues, and folk influences. The band then deepened the live side of its music with Live at The Forum in 2020, followed by Live at Hamer Hall in 2021, recorded with Orchestra Victoria, highlighting The Teskey Brothers’ attention to orchestration and group dynamics. Tours across Australia, Europe, and North America gradually established the project on international soul and roots circuits, while The Winding Way, released in 2023, continued in that direction, balancing traditional soul, R&B influences, and contemporary songwriting, with particular care given to slow moods, mid-tempo grooves, and the central place of Josh Teskey’s vocals.
