Foy Vance
Raised between Northern Ireland and the southern United States, Foy Vance places his songwriting at the crossroads of British folk tradition and American soul and gospel. Born in Bangor, Northern Ireland, he made a name for himself on the local acoustic scene in the early 2000s with direct guitar playing and a distinctive voice, before releasing his debut studio album, Hope, in 2007. He further defined his writing on Joy of Nothing (2013), which featured broader arrangements, and expanded his range again with The Wild Swan (2016), released on Gingerbread Man Records, the label founded by Ed Sheeran. Alongside his solo career, Vance co‑writes for other artists and frequently opens major tours, strengthening his presence on stages across the UK, Europe and North America. In 2019 the albums From Muscle Shoals and To Memphis continued his exploration of Americana and Southern soul, and Signs of Life (2021) returned him to a balance of introspective ballads, roots influences and melodic pop.
