Marcus King

Rooted in Greenville, South Carolina’s music scene, Marcus King developed as a teenager a guitar style strongly informed by electric blues, soul and Southern rock before attracting attention with The Marcus King Band on the U.S. club and festival circuit. With that group he released albums such as Soul Insight (2015), The Marcus King Band (2016) and Carolina Confessions (2018), establishing a repertoire that blended jazz‑influenced improvisation, soul ballads and rock energy. Launching a career under his own name, King honed a more personal writing style focused on voice and composition with El Dorado (2020) and Young Blood (2022), both produced in Nashville by Dan Auerbach. He mixes blues, rock, country and R&B influences into a tighter song format than on his earlier band projects. On stage Marcus King alternates between full‑electric shows and more stripped‑down configurations, solo or in small ensembles, maintaining a balance between Southern U.S. heritage and contemporary songwriting.
