Marc Broussard
Rooted in Louisiana’s musical tradition, Marc Broussard has developed since the early 2000s a blend of soul, rhythm and blues, funk and rock often described as bayou soul. Born in 1982 in Carencro near Lafayette, USA, he grew up in an environment shaped by the local music scene, notably through his father, guitarist Ted Broussard. Marc Broussard came to attention with Momentary Setback in 2002 and consolidated his writing with the album Carencro in 2004, which positions his songwriting between soulful ballads and tracks more indebted to American rock. He followed with S.O.S.: Save Our Soul in 2007, devoted to covers of soul classics, then Keep Coming Back in 2008 and a self-titled album in 2011, before A Life Worth Living in 2014. His discography alternates thereafter between original compositions and the S.O.S. series focusing on covers, including S.O.S. 2: Save Our Soul: Soul on a Mission (2016), Easy to Love (2017), A Lullaby Collection, SOS III (2019) and S.O.S. 4: Blues for Your Soul (2023), produced in part with Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith. A frequent presence on club and festival stages, Marc Broussard has built a career in which Southern soul and R&B remain the main anchor of his work as a singer-songwriter.
