Kalika

Situated in the French pop scene of the early 2020s, Kalika writes, composes and realizes a project in which French-language song interacts with denser indie electronics. Her early tracks establish a writing style that is direct, intimate and upfront, quickly extended by a visual work that is an integral part of her identity. Over the course of her releases, Kalika moves her music toward a more immersive alternative pop built on repetitive motifs, dark atmospheres and a constant tension between melody and texture. The EP J’ai pleuré marks this evolution by emphasizing the electronic element without abandoning the song format. Kalika thus belongs to a generation of francophone artists who view pop as a space for personal expression, at the crossroads of indie pop, electro and autobiographical songwriting, with a project conceived both for the studio and for the contemporary stage.
