Yseult

Balancing French chanson, R&B and contemporary pop, Yseult crafts intimate songwriting carried by a deep timbre and unhurried tempos. Born in 1994 in Quessy (Aisne), of Cameroonian descent and settled in Paris from a very young age, Yseult came to wider public attention in the mid-2010s after appearing on the TV show Nouvelle Star, before launching a label-backed career and then moving to full independence. Her music revolves around French-language lyrics that explore the body, love, vulnerability and self-assertion, set to productions blending piano-vocal ballads, soul inflections, touches of trap, and at times orchestral arrangements.
