Tom Odell
Born in Chichester, West Sussex, in 1990, Tom Odell is a British singer-songwriter who builds his songs around piano and melancholic songwriting. After spending his childhood between England and New Zealand, he settled in Brighton, joined the local scene and attracted attention in the early 2010s, leading to the release of the EP Songs from Another Love in 2012. His debut album Long Way Down (2013) established a style blending pop, rock and intimate ballads, featuring an expressive voice supported by spare arrangements sometimes augmented by strings. He followed with Wrong Crowd (2016), marked by broader production and contemporary pop hues, and Jubilee Road (2018), which leans on a narrative approach centered on everyday life. Monsters (2021) and Best Day of My Life (2022) explore more stripped-back, introspective sonorities while retaining his piano-and-voice core. Winner of the Brit Awards Critics’ Choice in 2013, he also maintains an active live career, performing in venues, at festivals and on international tours, with a repertoire that ranges from slow ballads to more rhythm-driven songs.
