Yael Naïm

Yael Naïm was introduced to the general public in 2007 with the song 'New Soul' from her eponymous album, which won the Victoires de la Musique award for World Music Album of the Year in 2008. Yael Naïm grew up in Israel, where she became interested in music at an early age, composing songs and learning to play guitar. She founded her first band, The Anti Collision, with which she performed on small local stages. In 2010, Yael Naïm returned to Paris to give a benefit concert during which she was noticed by a producer from EMI. Although her first album, 'In a Man’s Womb' (2001), was a commercial flop, she bounced back after meeting percussionist David Donatien in 2004. That meeting led to an unexpected collaboration and the album 'Yael Naïm & David Donatien', recorded in Yael Naïm's apartment. Since then she has returned to performing live, mainly in France, before coming back in 2010 with the soft, fresh album 'She Was a Boy'.
