Warhaus
Launched in 2016 around Maarten Devoldere, also a member of Balthazar, Warhaus takes shape in Kortrijk, Belgium, in a register blending indie rock, nocturnal pop, hushed folk and electronic touches. The project initially developed as a more intimate and stripped-down extension of Devoldere's writing, with a significant emphasis on deep voices, sober arrangements and an atmosphere often slow, between ballad, discreet groove and sensual tension. The first single, The Good Lie, came out in 2016 and preceded the album We Fucked a Flame Into Being, released the same year. A second album, Warhaus, followed in 2017, a period when Sylvie Kreusch still participated in the project before moving away for her solo trajectory. On stage, Warhaus operates with an expanded lineup gathering several musicians from Devoldere's circle, including Tijs Delbeke, Michiel Balcaen, Jasper Maekelberg and Sander Verstraete, and quickly frequents festivals such as Pukkelpop or Leffingeleuren. After a discographic pause, Warhaus returned with Ha Ha Heartbreak in 2022, a record marked by the separation of Devoldere and Kreusch, then with Karaoke Moon in 2024, where the project preserves this restrained melodic writing, between alternative song, cinematic arrangements and elegant melancholy.
