TR/ST

Born in Toronto, TR/ST took shape in 2010 around Robert Alfons, initially as a duo with Maya Postepski before quickly becoming Alfons’s main solo project. Initially known as Trust and renamed TR/ST in 2015, the project develops electronic music at the crossroads of synth-pop, dark wave, cold wave and a gothic pop with taut vocal lines, dry rhythms and often dark synth layers. TR/ST released its debut album, TRST, in 2012, followed by Joyland in 2014, where the songwriting gained clarity without abandoning that nocturnal, sensual aesthetic. After several years of evolution, Robert Alfons continued with The Destroyer (Part 1) and The Destroyer (Part 2) in 2019, two installments that expand the project between industrial pulse, electronic pop and more atmospheric passages, with Maya Postepski returning as a collaborator during this period. Active on electronic, dark-pop and post-punk stages, TR/ST has also produced remixes for Feist, Moby and ionnalee, with whom Alfons collaborated on the track “Harvest” in 2018. In 2024, TR/ST released the EP TR/ST and then the album Performance, which extends this trajectory between pop songwriting, synthetic textures and melancholic tension.
