Tempers

In New York, Tempers first took shape as a duo centered on Jasmine Golestaneh and producer Eddie Cooper, before becoming in 2023 a project carried solely by Golestaneh. Tempers develops a songwriting approach situated between dark synth-pop, post-punk, shoegaze and electronic music, with tracks marked by cold textures, taut rhythms and a voice often placed front and center. The first album, Services, was released in 2015, followed by the EP Fundamental Fantasy in 2017, born from a residency with The Vinyl Factory. In 2018 Tempers issued Junkspace, a project conceived with Rem Koolhaas based on interviews about the architecture of consumerism, then moved toward a more inward turn on Private Life in 2019. New Meaning, released in 2022, continues this direction with visual work developed by Jasmine Golestaneh alongside the music. Moving between New York’s independent scene, clubs, museums, galleries and exhibition spaces, Tempers circulates through varied contexts that also illuminate the project’s plastic/visual dimension. Tempers thus occupies a distinct territory between electronic songcraft, post-punk tension and visual inquiry.
