Born in Toronto, TR/ST is the project of Robert Alfons, initially launched as a duo with Maya Postepski before becoming a more solitary venture. Under this name (having previously been known as Trust), he shapes a tense synth-pop, nourished by dark wave and cold wave, with dry rhythms, dark soundscapes and a voice that plays on the friction between coldness and sensuality. Since TRST (2012) and Joyland (2014), Alfons has honed a sharper writing while staying within this nocturnal aesthetic, then broadens the frame with The Destroyer (Part 1) and (Part 2) in 2019, where industrial impact intersects with more atmospheric passages. Also noted for his remixes and collaborations, TR/ST continues to move between pop efficiency and electronic textures: the EP TR/ST and the album Performance (2024) extend this trajectory, still conceived for the stage and its dim lighting. TR/ST will perform live on September 16, 2026 at Niebo, in Warsaw.
