Truncate

Based in Los Angeles, Truncate develops a direct, stripped-down and physical techno built around dry grooves, raw textures and a minimal approach to the dancefloor. Active in Southern California's electronic scene since the 1990s, he began mixing in the region's warehouses and DIY raves before releasing his first tracks under the name Audio Injection on labels such as Monoid, Stimulus, 4 Track and Droid Recordings. His trajectory later became tied to Droid Behavior, where he became a resident from 2003 as part of the Interface series alongside Drumcell and Raiz. In 2011 David launched Truncate to refocus his work on a deeper, rougher techno, with productions and remixes released on Truncate, 50 Weapons, Ultramajic, Figure and Blueprint. Truncate has also produced remixes for Slam, Josh Wink, Ellen Allien and Carl Cox, while playing numerous dates at clubs and festivals dedicated to electronic music such as Berghain, Fabric, Womb, Movement, Dimensions and Awakenings. Truncate thus sits within an American techno current connected to European scenes, balancing rhythmic efficiency, restrained tension and a search for sonic material.
