Ø [Phase]

Under the name Ø [Phase], Ashley Burchett has developed since the late 1990s a career rooted in British techno from his base in London. His work sits at the intersection of tense, repetitive minimal techno and Detroit‑influenced sounds, with a marked preference for tight loops, deep bass and a restrained rather than demonstrative sense of progression. Ø [Phase] gradually gained recognition through releases on the Belgian label Token Records, which helped establish his name in European techno circuits. He simultaneously runs the Modwerks project, also used as a release platform for part of his music. In both DJ sets and productions, Ø [Phase] favors a functional, precise and dense aesthetic, conceived for clubs and industrial spaces, in a British lineage often associated with linear, hypnotic techno. His trajectory has led him to play regularly at key venues of that scene, notably Berghain, where Ø [Phase] was also involved in programming as a resident.
