Tiga

Born in Montreal, Tiga, whose full name is Tiga James Sontag, first made a mark on the Canadian electronic scene through the local nightlife, notably around DNA Records and the Sona club, before expanding to an international circuit of clubs and festivals. His work sits at the intersection of electro, techno, house and electroclash, with a taste for cold synth lines, dry rhythms and a vocal approach that is often spoken, detached and tinged with new wave and pop references. Tiga gained wide attention in the early 2000s with “Sunglasses at Night”, recorded with Zyntherius, and developed a parallel career as a producer and DJ through Turbo Recordings, the label he founded in Montreal. The albums Sexor (2006), Ciao! (2009) and No Fantasy Required (2016) document Tiga’s evolution between club formats, more vocal-led songwriting and targeted collaborations with producers from the techno and electro scenes. Over the years Tiga has maintained a regular presence in underground and festival circuits, with a repertoire focused on danceable, edgy and stylized electronic music.
