Tha Playah
Born in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, in 1982, Jim Hermsen has developed a career under the name Tha Playah rooted in mainstream hardcore since the early 2000s. Tha Playah released his first tracks on Neophyte Records as early as 2002, notably "Hit ’Em", and went on to build a discography characterized by fast, dense and very frontal hardcore, blending dark melodies, sampled vocals and arrangements designed for both clubs and large festivals. His debut album, The Greatest Clits, was released in 2006 and accompanied his lasting establishment in the Dutch gabber scene. Over the years Tha Playah has regularly performed at events such as A Nightmare in Rotterdam, Hellraiser, Project Hardcore, Dominator and Qlimax, while collaborating with Neophyte, Evil Activities, Promo, The Viper, Nosferatu and E-Force. After several years with Neophyte Records, Tha Playah launched his own label, State of Anarchy, in 2019 and released the album Sick and Twisted that same year. Since then Tha Playah has continued to work between festival-oriented hardcore and darker tones, with a direct and uncompromising aesthetic.
