The Viper
Under the name The Viper, Melvin Pelupessy has been part of the Dutch hardcore scene since the 1990s. Based in the Netherlands, The Viper crafts a sound rooted in gabber and hardcore techno, featuring direct songwriting, fast rhythms and an aesthetic that links the rave energy of the 1990s to the more structured production of the 2000s. After his early maxis on Babyboom Records, The Viper launched his own label, Viper Beatz, in 2006, releasing tracks such as “Blow Da Club Down” and “Come As One” — the latter serving as an anthem for Project Hardcore in 2007 alongside G-Town Madness. His trajectory includes collaborations with Tommyknocker, Endymion, Nosferatu, Neophyte, Tha Playah and Evil Activities, in a straightforward hardcore register often open to old-school touches and more unifying choruses. In 2011 The Viper joined Neophyte Records, where releases like “Wasting Away”, “Coming Home” and “Who We Are” appeared. A stage DJ as well as a producer, The Viper was also a resident of the 90’S ONLY on the beach parties in The Hague, highlighting his lasting connection to Dutch hardcore culture.
