The Pretty Reckless
Formed in New York in the late 2000s around singer‑guitarist Taylor Momsen, The Pretty Reckless developed a brand of rock marked by hard rock, post‑grunge and classic rock influences with dark overtones. Alongside Momsen, the band's core comprises guitarist Ben Phillips, bassist Mark Damon and drummer Jamie Perkins, a quartet lineup that has remained stable on tour. The Pretty Reckless drew attention with the 2010 album Light Me Up, where massive riffs, straightforward melodies and gothic imagery established an identity centered on a raspy voice and lyrics mixing disenchantment, religion and sexuality. With Going to Hell (2014) and Who You Selling For (2016), the band accentuated a more bluesy, classic‑rock side while retaining a radio‑friendly hard rock foundation that took them onto many international stages as support for American and European rock and metal acts. In 2021 the album Death by Rock and Roll continued this trajectory with a more introspective tone, marked by themes of grief and survival, confirming The Pretty Reckless's place in a generation of bands navigating between grunge heritage, 1970s rock and songwriting geared toward immediate choruses.
