Tebey
Born in Peterborough, Ontario and tied to Burlington, Tebey, whose real name is Tebey Solomon Ottoh, has since the early 2000s built a career that straddles contemporary country and writing pop, with a lasting anchor between Canada and Nashville. After a first notable foray onto the North American country scene with the single "We Shook Hands (Man to Man)" in 2003, Tebey redirected part of his activity toward writing for other artists, across registers ranging from country to pop, while continuing his solo career. This double trajectory clearly illuminates his aesthetics: direct melodies, highly crafted choruses, modern country production open to radio formats and with regular borrowings from pop. His discography under his own name includes the albums The Wait (2012), Two (2014) and The Good Ones (2021), as well as the EPs Old School (2016) and Love a Girl (2018). Over the years, Tebey has also multiplied occasional collaborations, such as with Emerson Drive, Marie-Mai, Una Healy or Tenille Arts, while remaining present on Canadian country stages. Located in a musical space where international songwriting and mainstream country intersect, Tebey evolves his repertoire between original tracks and reinterpretations, as reflected in his versions of "Wake Me Up" followed by "Blinding Lights".
