The Lemon Twigs
Formed on Long Island in New York State, The Lemon Twigs bring together brothers Brian and Michael D’Addario around a rock sound informed by orchestral pop, power pop and overt references to 1960s and 1970s music. Raised in a highly musical family and exposed at a young age to both the stage and film sets, the two brothers quickly developed a world combining tight vocal harmonies, tempo changes and dense melodic songwriting. Discovered on the New York scene, The Lemon Twigs signed to 4AD and released Do Hollywood in 2016, an album that established their retro yet composite approach, followed by the EP Brothers of Destruction in 2017. The duo then expanded the narrative aspect with Go to School in 2018, conceived as a kind of rock opera, before refining a more direct writing style on Songs for the General Public in 2020. From Everything Harmony (2023) and A Dream Is All We Know (2024), issued by Captured Tracks, The Lemon Twigs steered their sound toward melancholic pop rock, rich in ballads and vocal arrangements, while maintaining an expanded live lineup in which the D’Addario brothers alternate guitar, bass, drums and keyboards.
