This Is Lorelei

Behind This Is Lorelei is Nate Amos, an American musician and singer‑songwriter based in New York, who is also active as part of the duo Water From Your Eyes. Developed since the mid‑2010s as a space for self‑produced songs often released discreetly, This Is Lorelei has carved out its own place in the New York indie landscape, sitting between guitar pop, lo‑fi indie pop, folk pop and more experimental detours. The project relies on highly melodic songwriting, fluid arrangements and a way of shifting familiar forms without losing their simplicity. After a long run of low‑profile releases, This Is Lorelei took on a new dimension with Box for Buddy, Box for Star (2024), a record that accompanied tours in the US and subsequently in Europe. At the same time, some This Is Lorelei songs have been reinterpreted by artists such as MJ Lenderman and Snail Mail. With Holo Boy (2025), composed of new versions of tracks written between 2014 and 2021, This Is Lorelei revisits its own catalogue without resorting to a conventional compilation, in a format that links several periods of writing around a clearer sound driven by acoustic and electric guitars.
