The Browning

Formed in Kansas City (Missouri, USA), The Browning has developed since the late 2000s a blend of electronicore, metalcore and sounds drawn from club electronic music. Initiated by singer and programmer Jonny McBee as a project combining hip‑hop and dance, The Browning quickly moved toward a more extreme formula in which staccato riffs, breakdowns and growls sit alongside synth pads, trance‑like melodic lines and rhythms borrowed from dubstep. The band gained attention online, notably via Myspace, before releasing their debut album Burn This World (2011), followed by Hypernova (2013), Isolation (2016), Geist (2018) and End of Existence (2021), which show a continuity in the crossover between metal and electronic music while at times emphasizing more melodic or industrial aspects. Around Jonny McBee, who has become the stable core of The Browning, the lineup has changed several times, but the band remains active on the international metalcore and deathcore scenes, touring with American and European acts and appearing at various specialized festivals.
