Broncho

Formed in Norman, Oklahoma, Broncho has developed since the early 2010s an indie rock that blends garage energy, a melodic sensibility close to power pop, and touches of new wave. Centered on singer‑guitarist Ryan Lindsey, the band delivers short songs driven by distorted but tightly structured guitars and often nonchalant vocals that sometimes lean toward psych-pop. The debut album, "Can’t Get Past the Lips" (2011), established the foundations of an abrasive, direct sound, while "Just Enough Hip to Be Woman" (2014) emphasizes supple bass lines and repetitive choruses, opening Broncho to a wider audience on the international indie scene. With "Double Vanity" (2016) the band slowed the tempo, explored hazier atmospheres and a denser mix, before returning to clearer, more rhythmic songwriting on "Bad Behavior" (2018), which introduces pop influences and almost-funky grooves. Accustomed to touring the US and Europe and playing festivals like SXSW, Broncho sits within an alternative rock scene that plays on the tension between punk immediacy and melodic exploration, evolving its aesthetic album by album while keeping a format of direct, concise songs.
