White Denim

Born in Austin, Texas, White Denim took shape in 2006 out of several local bands and initially established itself as a power trio led by James Petralli with Steve Terebecki and Josh Block. White Denim quickly developed a hybrid language where garage rock, psychedelic rock, blues, soul, jazz fusion, punk and progressive rock intersect, with a marked taste for improvisation, structural shifts and tracks recorded in a DIY setting. After their early EPs the band released Workout Holiday and Exposion in 2008, then Fits in 2009 — records that cemented a nervous, fluid and dense aesthetic. The arrival of guitarist Austin Jenkins in 2010 coincided with a broader evolution, audible on D (2011) and Corsicana Lemonade (2013), where the group emphasized its soul and classic‑rock influences more while retaining an experimental edge. Over the years White Denim went through several line‑ups, with James Petralli remaining the project’s focal point alongside his alias Bop English. Stiff appeared in 2016, followed by Performance in 2018 and Side Effects in 2019, recorded around the Radio Milk studio founded in Austin by Petralli and Terebecki. The band continued with World as a Waiting Room in 2020, the joint project Raze Regal & White Denim Inc. in 2023, and 12 in 2024.
