Automatic

Born out of Los Angeles’ DIY scene in 2017, Automatic brings together Izzy Glaudini on vocals and keyboards, Halle Saxon on bass and Lola Dompé on drums in a tight trio where all three voices contribute to the band’s balance. Automatic’s sound sits in taut, melodic post-punk, built on a dry rhythmic foundation, forward bass lines and minimalist synths that at times nudge the group toward no wave, indie rock and a cool, retro-tinged pop. After their first shows on the LA local circuit, Automatic signed to Stones Throw and released their debut album Signal in 2019, which established this nervous aesthetic of repetition, urgency and detachment. In 2021 they issued Signal Remixes, and in 2022 they evolved their songwriting with Excess, retaining a post-punk framework while opening songs to more pop-leaning, danceable forms. The trio has shared bills and toured with acts such as Parquet Courts, IDLES, Tame Impala and The Marías. In 2025 Automatic continues this trajectory with their third studio album Is It Now?, extending their focus on concision, rhythmic motifs and contrasts between austerity and immediacy.
