Rosemary Standley

A Franco‑American singer based in France, Rosemary Standley has built a career at the intersection of folk, chanson and so‑called art music. She first came to prominence as part of the group Moriarty, formed around an acoustic repertoire blending blues, ballads and americana influences. In parallel she has developed a more personal body of work that brings together traditional songs, Anglo‑Saxon standards and French‑language texts. Her trajectory includes numerous duo and small‑ensemble projects, notably Birds on a Wire with cellist Dom La Nena, and collaborations with theorbo player and guitarist Bruno Helstroffer exploring early repertoires. Standley also works in theatrical and operatic contexts, taking part in musical productions and stagings where her voice is integrated into more narrative frameworks. Her approach favors spare arrangements, precise diction and a focus on conveying texts—whether popular songs, baroque pieces or contemporary compositions—allowing her to move fluidly between contemporary music venues, theatre stages and multidisciplinary festivals.
