Birds on a Wire
Born in France from the meeting of Rosemary Standley, a Franco‑American singer also associated with Moriarty, and Dom La Nena, a Brazilian cellist and singer based in Paris, Birds on a Wire develops a repertoire for voice and cello where chamber folk, chanson, pop, early music and traditional songs intersect. Birds on a Wire mainly works on covers and reinterpretations, in pared‑down versions that create a dialogue between languages, eras and repertoires of very different origins, from the Baroque to pop via French chanson and anglophone traditions. This work took a recorded form with Ramages in 2020 and continued with Nuées Ardentes in 2025, an album devoted to adolescence that includes songs linked to Bronski Beat, The Cure, The Doors, Barbara and Stefano Landi, with the participation of the Maîtrise de Radio France conducted by Sofi Jeannin. Between vocal writing, acoustic arrangements and moving between concert and theatre stages, Birds on a Wire situates itself at the junction of chanson, chamber music and revisited repertoire.
