Birds on a Wire is the meeting of two personalities: Rosemary Standley, the voice of Moriarty, and Dom La Nena, a Franco-Brazilian cellist and singer. Together, for fourteen years they have built a nomadic duo in which the voice and the cello are enough to move the songs, without overloading them. Their playground crosses eras and languages: rock, baroque music, French chanson, folklores gathered along the way. Each cover becomes a compact, standalone piece, tightened, precise, carried by a real dialogue between timbres, silences, and string lines.
From Violeta Parra to Leonard Cohen, through Jacques Brel, Birds on a Wire moves texts and melodies across continents. With Nuées ardentes (2025), they open a new chapter: The Cure, Bronski Beat or Barbara are invited into a set that is at once stripped-down and intimate, always guided by the art of minimal arrangement.
