Microwave

Rooted in the independent rock scene of the Atlanta, Georgia area, Microwave has, since the early 2010s, developed a sound at the crossroads of emo, alternative rock, and post-hardcore. Formed around singer-guitarist Nathan Hardy, Microwave gradually made a name for itself on the American DIY circuit, stringing together small-venue shows and tours alongside contemporary emo and punk acts. The debut album, Stovall (2014), lays the groundwork for a palette that blends abrasive guitars, more melodic passages, and highly personal writing, followed by Much Love (2016), where the band heightens the contrasts between electric tension, catchy choruses, and more atmospheric sections. With Death Is a Warm Blanket (2019), Microwave steers its aesthetic toward heavier textures, close to grunge and post-hardcore, while retaining an introspective dimension marked by lyrics about anxiety, relationships, and the weight of religious heritage. The album Let’s Start Degeneracy (2024) continues this evolution by incorporating more indie rock elements and a few pop inflections without abandoning the contrasted dynamics that characterize Microwave. Active on tour in North America and Europe, the band alternates clubs, festivals, and opening slots, consolidating an identity where sonic tension meets more stripped-back arrangements and often vulnerable vocals, in the service of direct, emotional rock.
