Turnover
Formed in 2009 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Turnover initially made their mark on the American pop punk and emo scene around Austin Getz, his brother Casey Getz and bassist Danny Dempsey, a core that remained through lineup changes. After a first EP in 2011 and a split with Citizen in 2012, Turnover released Magnolia in 2013, an album still defined by direct guitars and songwriting rooted in melodic punk. The shift became clear with Peripheral Vision in 2015, where Turnover largely moved away from their beginnings toward a softer mix of indie rock, dream pop and soft grunge, characterized by more restrained tempos and airy textures. Good Nature (2017) continued this evolution with a brighter, more melodic approach, followed by Altogether (2019), which broadened the band’s palette toward a more supple, nuanced pop rock. Becoming officially a quartet with the arrival of guitarist Nick Rayfield — first a touring musician, then a full member — Turnover carried this trajectory on Myself in the Way (2022). Present on indie and alternative circuits in both the United States and Europe, Turnover has built a career of distinct stylistic shifts without abandoning introspective, melodic songwriting.
