Capstan

Formed in Orlando, Florida, Capstan has been crafting melodic post-hardcore since the early 2010s, drawing as much from punk rock as from progressive and metalcore elements. The band favors intricate song structures, alternating bursts of speed, rhythm-centered sections and more spacious passages, with a pronounced contrast between clean vocals and screamed parts. After several self-released efforts that anchored them in the local scene, Capstan drew attention with the EP 'Cultural Divide' (2016) and 'In The Wake of Our Discord' (2018), alongside a steady touring schedule across North America. Their debut full-length, 'Restless Heart, Keep Running' (2019), followed by 'Separate' (2021), was released on Fearless Records and confirmed the group’s move toward more melodic songwriting without abandoning the aggressive edge of their sound. Today, Capstan operates on the international post-hardcore circuit, stringing together tours and festival appearances while honing an identity that balances direct emotion with instrumental technicality.
