Oxia

Active on the French electronic scene since the early 1990s, Oxia, aka Olivier Raymond, has developed from Grenoble an approach to techno infused with house and melodic sonorities. After beginning as a DJ in local clubs, he moved into production in the mid‑1990s and released numerous maxis on labels such as Ozone and later Goodlife, a Grenoble‑based outfit he co‑ran for a time with The Hacker. Oxia refined a writing style centered on long constructions, supple bass lines and contrasting synth pads, conceived as much for clubs as for listening. The album "24 Heures" (Goodlife, 2004) laid the groundwork for this language, extended by "Tides Of Mind" (InFiné, 2012), which opened his spectrum toward a deeper, more contemplative techno. The track "Domino" (Kompakt, 2006) broadened his international audience and placed Oxia on a network of European labels, complemented by occasional collaborations, notably with The Hacker and Miss Kittin. At the same time, Oxia has built a steady DJ career, ranging from intimate clubs to major festivals, where he presents a register from hypnotic techno to a warm, minimal form of house.
