Oneohtrix Point Never

Active on New York’s experimental scene, Oneohtrix Point Never is the project of American musician and producer Daniel Lopatin, born in 1982 in Massachusetts to a family of musicians who immigrated from Eastern Europe. Initially active in the 2000s with a series of cassettes and albums — including Betrayed in the Octagon (2007), Zones Without People (2009) and Returnal (2010) — Oneohtrix Point Never developed an electronic music approach drawing on ambient, drone, film music and the sonorities of synth‑pop and new age. From Replica (2011), R Plus Seven (2013), Garden of Delete (2015), Age Of (2018) and Magic Oneohtrix Point Never (2020) to Again (2023), the project moved toward more fragmented forms, working with sample collages, processed voices and structures close to pop without overtly adopting its conventions. Alongside his albums, Daniel Lopatin composes for film — notably the soundtracks for Good Time (2017) and Uncut Gems (2019) under the Oneohtrix Point Never name — and collaborates in the studio with artists such as FKA twigs, The Weeknd, Anohni and Tim Hecker. Oneohtrix Point Never’s performances range from solo concerts to audiovisual installations and museum contexts, extending on stage this exploration of the memory of popular sounds and unstable electronic textures.
