CFCF

Under the name CFCF, Canadian musician Michael Silver has, since the late 2000s, developed a trajectory linked to Montreal’s electronic scene. His work moves between ambient, melodic house, synth-pop, downtempo and Balearic or new age references, with a constant attention to textures, transitions and harmonic lines. After the EP Panesian Nights in 2009, CFCF released the album Continent in 2010, where slowed club pulses intersect with contemplative atmospheres. Exercises followed in 2015, pushing a structured instrumental writing further, nourished by ambient, dance music and influences from contemporary music. With Memoryland in 2021, CFCF returned to formats closer to songcraft while retaining this detailed approach to arrangement. Alongside releases under his own name, CFCF regularly produces remixes, works in production and plays DJ sets, in a register that links club culture, electronic pop and a more introspective mode of listening.
