Tim Hecker

Born in Vancouver in 1974 and long based in Montréal, Tim Hecker since the late 1990s has developed a body of work situated between ambient, experimental electronic, drone and noise, with a focus on texture, saturation and variations in sonic density. He first releases music under the alias Jetone before releasing under his name Haunt Me, Haunt Me Do It Again in 2001, then Radio Amor in 2003 and Mirages in 2004. His career takes on new scope with Harmony in Ultraviolet in 2006, followed by An Imaginary Country in 2009, Ravedeath, 1972 in 2011 and Virgins in 2013, albums where Hecker blends abrasive nappes, timbre treatments and slow structures, sometimes fed by organ recordings or rearranged acoustic ensembles. Hecker also collaborated with Daniel Lopatin on Instrumental Tourist in 2012, as well as with Ben Frost, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Arca or Aidan Baker. The remainder of his discography includes Love Streams in 2016, Konoyo in 2018, Anoyo in 2019 and No Highs in 2023. Alongside his concerts, often conceived as immersive listening experiences rather than narrative sets, Tim Hecker also composes for cinema and television, notably for The North Water and Infinity Pool.
