Liz Lawrence
Born in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, Liz Lawrence first honed her craft in several bands before moving to London to pursue a solo career that blends indie pop, lo-fi folk and more direct pop songwriting. She released her debut album, Bedroom Hero, in 2012, followed by the EP Health and Safety in 2014; during this period her repertoire relied on guitar-driven songs, clear melodies and stripped-back production. At the same time she formed the duo Cash+David with David LKA, a project leaning toward more synthetic electro-pop that broadened her palette without abandoning her sense of melody. Over the years she has toured with Bombay Bicycle Club and opened for artists such as Black, Scouting for Girls and Ani DiFranco, while remaining part of a British indie scene where both pop formats and more intimate approaches coexist. She also appears in 2017 alongside Toothless on Party for Two and as a guest vocalist on Bombay Bicycle Club’s 2020 album Everything Else Has Gone Wrong. Her solo discography continued with Pity Party (2019), Whoosh (2020), The Avalanche (2021), the EP I Was There (2023) and Peanuts (2024), a body of work that confirms her taste for precise choruses, airy textures and an alternative pop occasionally tinged with melancholy.
