She drew the gun

Born on the Wirral peninsula near Liverpool, She Drew the Gun took shape in 2013 around songwriter and vocalist Louisa Roach before expanding into a full band for live shows. The project sits in a psych-pop and indie-pop register, combining clear melodies, slightly hazy textures and spoken-word elements, often underpinned by socially and politically engaged lyrics. After starting as a solo act, She Drew the Gun began touring the UK from 2015, including support slots for The Sundowners, and later signed to Skeleton Key Records. The group gained wider attention in 2016 by winning Glastonbury’s Emerging Talent Competition, then followed with festival appearances and UK dates, and a run at SXSW in 2017. Their discography includes the EP Chains (2013) and the albums Memories of Another Future (2016), Revolution of Mind (2018), Behave Myself (2021) and Howl (2024). Across these releases, She Drew the Gun has shifted from a psych-pop foundation toward a more direct songwriting approach, where alternative pop, light post-punk and spoken inflections occupy a clearer place, without abandoning the introspective atmosphere of their beginnings.
