Katy J Pearson
Born in Swindon, raised in Cirencester and now based in Bristol, Katy J Pearson has been building since the mid-2010s a repertoire that sits between indie pop, pop rock and folk, with touches of country and Americana. She first came to attention with Ardyn, a duo formed with her brother Rob after early work under the name Kitten And Bear; they released the EP Universe in 2015. After that initial phase and a spell in London, Katy J Pearson returned to Bristol and began her solo career with the single "Tonight" in 2019 on Heavenly Recordings. Her debut album, Return, appeared in 2020, followed by Sound of the Morning in 2022 and Someday, Now in 2024. From record to record she has developed a melodic, direct songwriting style in which tightly structured pop songs meet lucid guitars, folk shades and a broader sense of arrangement. Her recent work has also embraced collaborations with Nathan Jenkins, H. Hawkline and Davey Newington, and she appears in 2024 on Yard Act's "When The Laughter Stops."
